Chairperson
  • Liaises with staff, parents and Committee members to ensure the smooth running of the pre-school
  • Oversees Committee meetings and produces a report for each one. 
  • Responsible for conducting the Supervisor's appraisal and monitoring the appraisals of other staff members
  • Staff contracts and interviews
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are kept up to date and communicated to staff and parents. 
  • Liaises with the Treasurer and Supervisor regarding the financial management of the preschool 
  • Liaises with other bodies, eg. Bracknell Forest Early Years, Ofsted, etc. as needed (infrequently) 
  • Speaking at any Pre-school events and chairs the A.G.M.

Secretary

  • Responsible for all administration matters relating to Pre-school, e.g. Committee minutes, letter writing, letters to parents, termly newsletters 
  • Assists other committee members where needed, e.g. fundraising

Treasurer

  • Collect and bank any monies owing to Pre-school, collect fundraising monies and pay bills.
  • Maintain bank books/ledger for Pre-school and oversees petty cash. 
  • Produce a report for each committee meeting and other reports as needed.
  • Advises on the management of Pre-school finances. 
  • Set the budgets for the financial year in conjunction with the Supervisor and Chairman and produce accounts for the AGM, guided by an accountant/book-keeper

Assistant Treasurer

  • Prepare and issue invoices to parents/carers each half term
  • Assist the Treasurer if required

Registrar/Assistant Registrar

This role requires a lot of telephone work and close liaison with the Supervisor and Committee.



  • Maintains an up to date record of children on the waiting list. Offer places as they become available and arranges introductory visits for each new child. 
  • Replies to queries and sends out welcome pack 
  • Maintains an up to date register of children attending the Pre-school 
  • Advises parents of changing sessions for each term, ensuring that each session is full enough to cover costs
  • Produces a report for each Committee meeting 
  • Maintains the welcome book and associated forms

Fundraising Co-ordinator

  • Responsible for obtaining raffle donations for events and concerts o 
  • Organisation of events, raffles etc. (We have one major event each year, usually at the end of November)

General Members

  • This role is ideal for parents who cannot devote much time but want to be involved. It may include 
  • Helping organise fundraising events 
  • inventories for Pre-school cupboards and sheds (annually)
  • Organise parent questionnaires sent out once a year involves distributing to parents, then collating the results
  • Providing an extra adult as cover for introductory sessions (usually 30 mins)

Note

Every member of the committee has to be DBS checked and then complete an EY2 form for Ofsted within two weeks of being elected at the AGM
